my school is doing an original play, called silent girl and a girl on my floor is in it, and as the resident director of my floor i want to go and support her. i have been helping her run lines and such, so i know how deep into SI it gets. which is pretty deep. i am going to go to it but i was afraid it would be really triggering. so i asked her if i could read the script. so i was reading it and it was slightly triggering, but i am glad that i will know what to expect when i am actually seeing the show.
while i was reading it my really close friend was on my floor and then said hi and left. a few minutes later i texted her and asked to talk. i asked her to come to the show with me, and then told her about my SI...which i have never told her before. she is wonderful and i am blessed to have her because she listened and does not judge me. anyway...she is going to the show with me and now understands a lot more about me. however i recently cut again, yesterday and today, and when talking to her i implied that i was over the actual cutting aspect of SI....she knows i still think about it but she doesnt know i have cut in the last year and a half. i dont know whether or not to tell her....she seemed so happy that i had gotten over it.......
i dont know. and i am so sorry for the length of this post, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I think that you should tell her if you feel guilty for keeping it a secret. It may not be the most pleasant thing for her to hear, but I know if one of my close friends were in that situation I would want them to tell me.
This is so hard on you, I can tell. You want to support your friend, but it's a very difficult topic for you. If you decide to go, perhaps the friend you opened up to (which is a good thing!) you should be totally honest with her, and tell her that SI is something that you are still struggling with on a daily basis. If you two go, sit near an exit so you can leave quickly and quietly. Ask your friend to leave with you if you are bothered during the play, so you can have someone to talk with instead of harming yourself.
Whatever you decide, it is ultimately up to you. You need to know that you always have options, and the friend you opened up to sounds like she could be good for you if you let her.

i think i would tell her (your friend i mean).... just so that shes aware. hopefully she'll be understanding.
the other option would be to tell her later, and explain that you weren't comfortable sharing that information with her yet. cause it takes alot of trust to share that sort of information, and the courage to do it often doesn't come all at once...
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
thank you for the support. i am still deciding....i go back and forth with it a lot, which is normal for my head....i am just afraid that being in a leadership position at school...that it will look like i am cutting bc i cant handle it....which isnt true....

This is a really good idea. If you aren't sure yet, sleep on it, and this is an option for when you are ready/ I had never thought of this before but its a good option IMO.
