Help to break the cycle and thoughts

Hi,
I have recently lapsed back into self-harm after a long patch of freedom. I am starting to do better in myself, but have rediscovered how addictive it can be. I don't even know why i have such a strong urge right now, but it is like i am at a 'just one more time' place. All I can think about is getting to cut once more in the way i want to, and that will be the last time. And when i try to ignore it or tell myself all the reasoned thoughts about it, I just can't get the thought of doing it once more to get it out of my head and if i don't i will always want to do it again, so if i do it how i want to once, it will have got it out of my system. Need some help with this please, need to break it but don't know how

I know what you mean... that's not fun :(

Congrats on going so long without self-harm! That's a great accomplishment :)

Can you get out of the house or something to take your mind off it? Sometimes, I like to draw stuff on myself with red markers; they are the color of SH, but doesn't do any harm.

I'm sorry if I couldn't do much to help...

I really hope you're ok! You can always send a pm if you want to talk :)

*hugs and love*

We are male and female. We are artists, athletes, and students. We have depression, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, or maybe no diagnosis at all. Some of us were abused, some not. We come from all walks of life and can be any age. We are every race or religion that you can think of. Our common link is this: We are in pain. We self-injure. And we are not freaks.

i don't think that giving in once would actually take the urge away for good. it might subside for a while, but it would come back again, and probably be harder to resist.

try and not let the thoughts bother you (i know this probably sounds impossible, but it isn't)... its kinda like acknowledging that its there, but just letting it leave right away, instead of latching on to it and focusing on it. the metaphor that i always get told is to try and observe it like its a cloud going by... sorta an "oh thats interesting, but look at the butterfly/rock/whatever else" and keep doing whatever you were doing

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.

The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

PM me anytime, I love getting messages :)
