Have I made the right decision? *Trig, Suicide*

First off, I don't know if I've posted this in the right forum. It's not really about self-harm. More about suicidal thoughts. But I didn't know where I would post that so...I've just posted it here, sorry.

So, basically, I had my first proper counselling session on Friday and one of the things that the counsellor asked me to do, was to phone and make an appointment with the doctor to get some stronger antidepressants. I'm currently on one Fluoxetine (prozac) a day, and it isn't really having effect at all..and is only encouraging me to OD.

I agreed that I would call the doctor and arrange an appointment for this week.
But I haven't, and I don't think I'm going to.
Because..well...basically..the only thing stopping me from killing myself is that I just don't have the energy. Does that make sense?

I'm worried that stronger antidepressants will give me more energy, and therefore suicide will become more...likely to happen.

Have I made the right decision in not calling the doctor?? Or should I go for the stronger meds??

Thanks..

Karis

Jeez this is a depressing post...!

Heading up to four years free. I NEVER thought I'd be in this position - recovery IS possible and it is even better than you can imagine :)

In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free. Psalm 118:5

thats something that you should discuss with your doctor and/or therapist. i would at least call to let your doctor know what was suggested........

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.

The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

yeah, i think you should at least tell your therapist that and see what they say.

take one step at a time, keep your head held high, and your eyes on Him, always.

At least call the doctor and then when you go, you can air your concerns to him. If you've been advised / told to phone, you really should.

They make even do the complete opposite from making you feel suicidal. They could really help.

Take care,
Em x
