Haloperidol - to take or not?
I am on 20mg olanzapine daily and I used to be on 10mg haloperidol on top of that. The haloperidol really helped me stay calm and topped off the olanzapine in helping me with the Voices etc. However the psych on the ward took me off the haloperidol because of the long-term side-effects. I took 5mg haloperidol prn today and it really helped me. I want to go back on haloperidol but I'm scared of tardive dyskinesia. What is your opinion? I have a CPA with my psych on the 8th of Feb. I will bring it up with her too.
Note: I don't get side-effects from haloperidol except some tiredness and dullness.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

Do you think the risk is worth it? It sounds like you think it is. In that case, I think you should take it. It's your body, after all.

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Maybe take it just as PRN? You're still getting the benefits of it helping but with a reduced risk of TD.

See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.
Stare at the hands, you know you want to ;).

You're both right. I will ask my psych if it is safe taking 5mg a day and only occasionally 10mg a day.
Thanks.
