this feels a bit random but it has been on my mind for a while,my disorder prevents me from going out,so of course i never walk my dog (9mnth old akita x german shepherd) on the odd occasion i do i rush it and she is terrible on the lead,im only 5ft so i get dragged about.
shes a big dog but needs excersise but i get so paranoid when im out i just want 2 go home.she hasnt been walked now for 2 months, she goes outin the yard alot at home, always is fed and stroked, houstrained and stuff but i feel guilty that i cant bring my self to walk her.
does anyone have any tips please xx
Perhaps you could walk her with somebody else there too? Or, if the problem is seeing people when you're out, could you drive somewhere really quiet and walk her there? Are there any friends or family members you could ask to walk her for you occasionally? Alternatively, you could pay somebody to walk her a few times a week for you (just put an ad up in local shops and newsagents).
Sometimes I walk my dog with my ipod on if I'm not in the mood to speak to people I meet, perhaps that's something you could consider?
There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
iv been asking people about isolated places i can take her,iv had a couple of recommendations, i might listen to music that might take my mind of things,i just need to puck p the courage to get up and go i suppose,i just dont want to be a bad dog owner
thankyou very much for your suggestion, hope you are well
I know what you mean about not been able to walk your dog because of been paranoid, Listening to music is a good idea, also what has helped me with paranoia while i am out is, when you go out even if it is for a minute it might be hell, but when you back think nothing happened it was fine, then if you keep doing that more and more i think it becomes easier, Thats what my therapist recommended to me. Hope that helps :)
this is my akita x shepherd kira (more akita than shepherd, her dad is quarter shepherd, but those ears are not akita lol) she was about 6 months here, she is 8 months now looks the same but bigger
i have been low these last couple of days so havent been out,but hoping to go out again soon. i am nervous for going to training classes tho, even tho its a good idea. hope everyone is ok xxx
our dog (called kia how funny actually i think her real name is kira ) was a rescue and luckily she was pretty well trained but i hear they can be very stubborn but clever so perhaps you could spend some time with her training in the garden?
Kias only issue is with other dogs but thats easily avoidable and thankfully she doesnt pull
aww very nice i love them,so noble looking (kira looks noble but shes no lady lol) i woory sometimes that she is small for her age but she still has more growing to do.her mum is small for an akita but she was bred to young so it stunted her growth. her dad is massive though.and miserable lol but the mum is nice she has taken after her. how weird she is called kia/kira lol seems to be a popular name for big, long nosed dogs i have a friend who got a husky pup called kira (hers was rescue too) xx
how odd, well when mum got kia she got confused over what her name was then when we got the paper work it turns out her real name (well her non pedigree name) was kira but kia stuck
