Has anyone else taken citalopram/ celexa for depression and anxiety? Cause I just got put on it and so far the side effects are really bad... does it actually work for anybody?

I know a few people who have found it incredibly helpful. The side effects were not pleasant for me either (and NEVER OD on it....it does nothing but makes you feel the side effects 10x worse for a few days). It is one of the first AD's GP's will try people on though so clearly it must do something for quite a lot of people. If I were you then I would persevere. Remember it can take 6-8 weeks before you start noticing a positive effect, although the side effects should start to wear off in half that time.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I didn't get any side effects with it but it also didn't make any difference for me. Each tablet affects different people in different ways though I guess.

My Mum's on it and she doesn't suffer many side-effects and it's worked wonders for her.

I have been on it for over a year, started at 20mg now on 40mg, I found the main side affects I had (and they were worse when making the jump to 40mg) was tierdness, teeth chattering and feeling anxious. They all passed within a couple of weeks or so I think.
Its hard to say how well its working, I def noticed that it made me feel beter after the initial few weeks but not too sure now, its hard to know how well id feel without it though. What I did find was that going up a dose didnt make much difference, my partner thinks that its made my depression worse but im not too sure and my GP wants me to stick to the 40mg.
Give it time, the side effects should pass after a few weeks

This antidepressant helped me come out of the worst depression I have ever had. It did, however, take 8 weeks (of taking it properly) for it to start to work.

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

I was on it years ago, and it made me fit. Also I found it interfered with my breathing.
