It sounds like it would be worth a try.
I had a little bit of eye movement desensitising and reprocessing, and it honestly wasn't that bad - it's certainly not something I would describe as 'brutal'. I didn't find it helpful personally, but obviously it is effective for some people, and it sounds positive that you feel good about meeting someone who wants to try something proactive.
Would it be worth giving the doctor a ring or speaking to him again before you speak to your nurse, to talk about the therapy process, how it works and what will happen, how long it will take to have an effect, etc?
Remember that you can always change your mind as well - you can choose to give it a go, and then if you decide it's not for you, or if it distresses you in any way you can ask to stop or try something else.
Good luck with whatever you decide, x
