best place to avoid when it's been snowing
Paths by the North Circular. [Or any motorway, for that matter.]
I don't recommend anyone do what I had to do this afternoon to get home [buses didn't appear...]. That is walk on the path by the side of a motorway that is slick with the run off from melted snow, and dirty black puddles at the side. Because on the path you'll find not only puddles of several inch deep black watery slush spreading across the whole path, you'll find cars and lorries speeding through puddles at the side of the road, sloshing pedestrians with black slush.
