Looking Back

When i look back in time, for me like 5 years ago, everything seemed really exciting and much happier, despite the fact 5 years ago i was probably at my worst, and i find myself reminiscing about that time by listening to music i used to listen to back then and re-visiting places i used to go, looking over old video footage and pictures and what not, i'm not sure why i do this, as i said i was probably at my worst but it seems more warmer and more happier than i am now.
I feel like i have just opened a new chapter in my life but i'm scared, i'm sure in a few years i'll be looking back at how i am now and wishing i could go back to this point in time. I did the same for other years too. Does anybody else do this? it get's me really down sometimes that i cannot go back to those times, the friends i had who have wondered off, the people i met, and how the people who i was friends with and i'm still friends with...how much they have changed and how there life has evolved, it's just not the same and it really saddens me.

I'm the same in that I look back in time & wish I could go back there as, like you said, it seems a happier warmer place. The time I want to go back to is the time before I lost my railway job & before I started SH'ing.

Nice to know i'm not alone, i wonder why it always seems warmer? I know if i were to actually go back there it would probably suck, hmmmm. (((hugs)))

Sorry I've only just seen this, but I want you to know that I do this all the time as well. I think about what was and what could've been, even though at the time it was really bad for me.

Maybe it seems warmer because, I know this sounds silly and pointing out the obvious, but you know what's happened and how everything went? Maybe the reason why everything seems so cold in comparison now is because we can't predict how this new chapter in our lives is going to go, so it seems more lonely. You know what they say, better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Hope this isn't a vague and useless post (:

(((Hugs back))) I know with me I tend to look at the past through rose tinted glasses. I occasionally think back to my very first job and a part of me would love to go back because things seemed so much easier at the time; life seemed to be less complicated for me, less worries & fears etc.

At the time though I hated the job because the boss could be somewhat tyrannical & one of my co-workers was the biggest w***ker I know. I was knowhere near as confident as I am nowadays and there were many days when I came home feeling down and depressed.

Because of my rose tinted glasses I tend to remember the good times & overlook the bad times if that makes sense.

Maybe, i guess when i look back it sometimes doesn't seem real, like i'm looking back at somebody elses life, and i want to experience what it was like, almost like a film, i guess i kind of forget how horrible alot of it was, it's weird. That's probably the best i can describe it. Sometimes i feel like i'm reliving parts of it, it's all weird. Thnakyou both for replying
