Plan to Stop - Failed

I am anxious because I plan to stop restricting today and it is a rather addictive behavior for me.

I also plan to stop overexercising and checking my weight.

So I am scared.

Wow. Thats brilliant that you are going to try and stop.
Good luck.
You can do it
PM me if you need to.

Hide the scales if you can that way you won't get tempted to check your weight too often. I know if I see scales I have to weigh myself.

Thanks for the advice and support. I did hide the scale.
I made it through two days without restricting or overexercising or weighing myself. This is rather hard though.

It is very difficult to stop behaviors you've relyed on for so long, but you CAN do it. Just think; you've done it for 2 days, you can do it for another 2 days, & then another 2 days, etc.

If you slip up, it's okay. Slip ups are part of recovery. You learn to get back up again & continue fighting.

You're very brave & strong. Well done, I'm very proud of you, & it's in inspiration for me & others out there to get better.

Do you have any professional support?

I do not have any professional help at the moment. I have a counselor but I will not be able to see her for a while.

Thanks for all the support.

I'm just dealing with the worry that I'll gain too much weight now. I've been very tempted to check my weight on the scale, but if I do than I know I'll just start restricting again.

Well done for making a decision that's so positive.

Can we help distract you at all so you don't check your weight?

Feel free to PM

I checked my weight but I did not restrict and just tried to remain calm as my doctor says it is a healthy weight.

I really feel like restricting again and feel like I am gaining too much weight and do not know what to do.

You can do it.

Trust your doctor. They know what a healthy weight is. So whatever your mind is telling you trust that you do not weight too much.

Its really good to be healthy.
And you are doing really well.

Try not to weigh yourself anymore, and try and keep eating healthy meals.

Please try and remember the facts; you ARE at a healthy weight, so you don't need to restrict. Restricting is bad for your body, and your mind. It causes physical issues as well as mental ones and is (as you're aware) also addictive. You do not need to do this to yourself; please remind yourself of that.

There are many downsides of restricting, maybe it would help you to think of those personal to you? I know for me I have zero energy and become grumpy and moody, I can't study or do the things I need to do and it causes arguments. Plus it makes me skin bad. So what about you?

Don't give up Drake, you're doing an amazing thing here. You really are.

Sorry for failing but recently I have been restricting again. There is a certain weight that I just don't want to ever be over and I panicked because I thought I might have gone over it but I didn't check on the scale and now I'm restricting again.

Thanks for all the support.

Reasons I shouldn't restrict:
because I can't think as well when I restrict
because being healthy is good
because restricting isn't a good coping mechanism

Still working on why I am self-destructive and why I started restricting.

I'm just scared because I don't know a better coping mechanism.

How are you doing now??

I think it would be really useful for you to try and not weigh yourself at the moment, it'll be hard but I believe you can do it. Remember that you are worth so much more than a number on a scale.

Those are really good reasons for not restricting, can you try and think of any more? Keep reading these every day to try and help you on the road to recovery. Have you got any professional support yet? It would be really useful for you to have help to get you through this.

Take care
Lyddie

Thank you for your support and advice. It is very encouraging to me

I'm not doing so great because I set a goal weight and feel like I'm eating too much - as I tried to stop restricting again. I'm feeling coflicted as it is very enticing to go back to restricting but I am trying not to because I know it is good to be healthy.

I do not have professional help at the moment.
