Weight gain with anti-depressants

Has anyone experienced weight gain due to being on anti-depressants?

I am on Mirtazapine and have put on 2 stone in a month since starting taking it (I was on Duloxetine before). My appetite has completely changed and I am hungry all the time. I have put on a total of 5 1/2 this year and I am utterly depressed about it. I feel so ugly and hate being in this skin right now. I'm going to talk to my doc about it on Tues in the hope they can put me in touch with a deititian or help me in some way. Has anyone had a similar experience or has anyone got any tips for managing hunger? Thanks!

Yeah I was on mirtazapine, and it made me put on about 2 stone until my body got used to it but that was over about 3 months or something.
I was ending up having about 2 meals per meal time plus feeling hungry in between, it sucked.

Don't really have any tips for hunger, but at the moment when i try not to eat between meals, i drink water/squash instead.

I hope it evens out soon.

When I was taking my first meds I didn't gain at all, they actually curbed my appetite. I've not been taking these new ones long enough to see if they'll have any effect on my weight.

Like they say though, different meds affect different people.

Yeah I understand different meds affect different people. Hopefully my body will get used to it soon and my eating habits will level out. In the mean time, I just hope the positives of taking the meds outweigh the negatives of the weight gain.

So I went to the doctor's today and she has changed my medication. I'm now on Lofepramine - never heard of this one! Hopefully I'll start to eat normally again and will loose a bit of weight. I'm also going to see a nurse who does a health for life clinic. I came out of the docs feeling quite happy so hopefully I'll feel a lot better once I start to lose the weight. Thanks guys for your replies and support.
