I am currently:
diazipam and temazipam

hey everyone,
ive been on temazipam (to help with insomia) for about 4 months and my bodies now dependant, as with the diazipam that i've been on for about 3 months. i was wondering if anyone else has become this dependant and has tried to come off them, my phyciatrist is taking me off them very slowly, but as they no longer help me i just want to go cold turkey, i have tried and it turned out horribly!! does anyone know either a way to speed up coming off of these drugs, or a good way to get through the cold turkey?

thanks

Weening off benzodiazepines (the ones your are taking slowly dose by dose) is the best way to get off them, as indicated by your doctor. Going cold turkey can be extremely dangerous and could be fatal, so your best to go slowly on them as indicated by your doctor. But if you are feeling a bit anxious from coming off them, maybe try deep breathing exercises. Basically close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing for like 5mins. Then working from either bottom of your legs or top of your head, slowly stretch the muscles for around 30 secs and release, for example your bottom, squeeze it tight for 30secs then release. Continue until you try and do all the major muscles groups while trying to breathe slowly. Hopefully that might work?

I didn't tell my Dr when I was reducing my temazepam dose until I got to 5mg for 2 weeks without a problem. then she changed script to 5.
With that I quartered then and slowly reduced, again without telling Dr.
I felt more in control as opposed to being made to do it as Dr giving me less.
It worked for a good while.
Until I relasped and the bad sleeping returned. I am now on a differant one but I quarter them and take between half and 3/4, it works for me.

Slowly is the only and best way.
As for diazepam, I've never become dependant, somehow I can stop start with them for short term once twice a day for a few days or even weeks and months then stop and apart from the anxiety being more felt and my sleep wasn't as good/deep, I am always Ok.

Just the sleepers I need to work on, slowly.

I want to kiss the bottom of the ocean before I burst through its surface into the sunlight, otherwise I will always be wondering about what was left unseen at the bottom

i'm tired of chasing my dreams.
i'm just gonna ask where they're going,
and hook up with them later.

I strongly dont suggest you go cold turkey as it can be very dangerous and you will feel very unwell. Just taper off as your doctor directs.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
