It varies from person to person really, and there are different types of depression. Ideally you should seek a professional's opinion after explaining what you're experiencing to them.
Depression is different in each person, but here is what depression looks like for me.
Sleeping a lot
Crying spells(often for "no reason")
feeling "down in the dumps"
isolating yourself from others
irritability
intense urges to self-harm
extreme sensitivity(crying "at the drop of the hat")
Generally the symptoms need to last at least two weeks to be considered "clinical depression."
You should really seek the help and opinion of a trained professional.
As said above, depression can be different from person to person, and also self-diagnosis is not a good way to go.
Sleep a lot/ a little
Eating a lot/ a little
Crying spells
Feelings of hopelessness
Irritability
But as people above said, self diagnosis can be dangerous so see a professional if you think this might be an issue for you. Best of luck with everything :] <3

Also the symptoms an 'adult' exhibits can be different from those expected in an 'adolescent or child'. What makes you think you may be suffering from Depression? Have you spoken to anyone 'in real life' about it?
Thanks for the hugs and replies. I'm not necessarily trying to self diagnose, I'm just trying to understand depression more, and simply wondering if I have it.
I know seeking help is frightening, I wouldnt have gotten help if I hadn't 'gone over the edge' so to speak, but the sooner you get help the better. If you cant discuss it with your family yet maybe a close friend? Even if you do not have 'depression' seeking proffessional help isn't a bad thing.
Some symptoms...change in diet, change in sleeping habits, lack of motivation, having to force yourself to do the things you love, feeling hopeless/guilty/pointless, feeling tired
there are more and usually these feelings are persistent, the last for more then a few days
You will find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but is often true-Spock

I agree that while you're beginning to ask yourself these questions of 'do i have this', it is an excellent time to speak to your doctor and share your concerns with them, and see what they think. It might be they get you to monitor your mood and see you in a week or something, or they refer you for other things, or give you information about it.
Either way the sooner you recognise something isn't right with you - no matter what the cause - please speak with your doctor. Physical problems can also cause depression symptoms and most doctors will screen for this when you present with symptoms, so it really is worth it to speak to someone.
