Apart from the tablets what other kind of help have you received or tried? If you didn't feel like this what would you like to be doing? I understand how much Depression can hurt and how suffocatingly painful it can be. Don't give up though, at the end of the day 4 different medications are just the tip of the ice berg to be honest. I have been on 8, with different combinations and with anti psychotic medication as well. What do you think might help you apart from self harm?

Are you receiving any therapy alongside with the medications?
Sometimes, as frustrating as it is, it takes time and different medication combinations to get to a therapeutic dose.
If you are not receiving therapy I highly encourage it. That way someone could offer practical suggestions on alternate coping mechanisms or healthier ways to view yourself and the world around you.

I often feel like that, but my counsellor was saying yesterday that she has had a lot of clients that DO find the right meds and they DO make a huge difference. Unfortunately it does take trial and error, but please don't give up on it.
Also, as the others have said, counselling/therapy as well as meds is usually more effective - because in the long run it's important to find coping mechanisms and address some of the non-biological causes of the depression.
