distractions, take up a hobby, think of those you love, how about taking a relaxing bath, making a box full of happy memories and everytime you feel sad you open it up and feel abit happier? how about watching a film, or doing some drawing or some creative writing maybe? xx

Exercise will help also...the biological reason people get addicted to SI is it releases endorphins, which make us feel better. Exercise also releases endorphins.

I'm not pretedning that exercise is going to make everything ok or take away the urges. But it'll probably help.

Would you feel comfortable talking to someone close to you about your SI? They could support you to stop, but it takes time. Or if you're able to you can go to your GP.

How are you feeling today?
It is good that you recognise that SI is an addiction. To move forward you need to understand what it is that makes you feel like you need to SI. It may be an idea to keep a diary of when you SI, what led up to it and what you were feeling/thinking about at the time. It might help you to spot any patterns in your SI.
Have you got any support from family, friends or proffesionals at the moment?
Take care
Kathryn
