Benefits and Job

Went for an interview today, went really well, was honest about depression and anxiety, still seemed keek and was helping me fill out the questionaire to make sure i got the right answers, he wanted somebody older like me too :)

My question though is this.....it is for 12 hrs a week, do i pay tax or national insurance?

Ive pretty much resigned to the fact i will loose my incapacity, so what other options are open to me? im on dla still but ive gotta fill out a new form. I worked out my earnings from the job would be around £300 a month, most important thing for me is rent, i currently get housing and council tax benefit too, how much dya reckon housing would pay for? rent is 535 a month. I know it's gonna be tough financially to start with but there must be some kind of benefit or help for people who live on there own who earn not very much ya know?

I know i should see cab but i just wonderd if anybody on here knew? i mite not even get the job, but i got a good feelin when i left, i know i did the best i could in there, couldn't have done any better.

well well done on doing your best and yay for the positive vibe. definately contact the CAB would you qualify for the low income support? all of this is a confusing area for me that i'm trying to get my head round too. BEST OF LUCK!

hey well done on doing so well at the interview, that's really good going!
in terms of income tax and NI, you're well under the limit as you only start paying tax after about £6500 a year.
i'm not sure about what the situation when it comes to the withdrawal of benefits. i know they do claw back a fair bit when you do start earning though and that the interplay between the various benefits is a bit complicated. you really need to go see someone at a cab, and they can sit down with you and work it all out.

It's all very confusing, i am over 25 but i am sure i read, i'm probably wrong, but you can get working tax credits if it's no less than 30 hours per week which i find a bit weird. I am still waiting to hear wether or not i got the job, my positivity has since faded and i'm kind of feeling like i haven't got the job now, surely i would have heard something, interview was tuesday, we're now saturday, hmmm, i just wanna know one way or the other! but yeah, thanks for your advice peeps.

Two things could you look into permitted work for ESA you can do up to 16 hours and earn no more than 90 odd pounds a week. It would be worth looking into that side of things you can do permitted work for up to a year and you wouldn't use your benefit. Doing it this way would be a safety net :)

working tax credits would be if you worked 30 hours or more or depending on dla/time on ib - then it would be 16 hours

I would ask cab for help to clarify these things as the benefit system is a minefield
