She was beautiful as she was! She didn't need photoshop to make her look more beautiful! Nobody does!
Is it just me who hates this in the media?
As someone who takes media, I stand against it! Both women and men are beautiful for who they are! They hire models to look beautiful on their magazine. Not to take advantage of them and make them look skinnier, paleler and nothing at all like they looked like when they had their photo taken.
Sorry but I just want to know who else dislikes it.
she was pretty plain looking before.
i wish they didn't do that s'hit.
i'd rather they just got someone who looked like that to begin with.
EDIT;; "Right! It's horrible that they take away their inner beauty!"
this choice is ridiculous.
her inner beauty? why would her inner beauty matter in the slightest on a POSTER?
i don't care about her inner beauty.
so if we think youre wrong then were sayin that woman is ugly? :/
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
i think that when people have an idea of the person they want to use in their ad or whatever, people wont fit into their exact image,so they take someone close enough and then alter them to what their original thoughts were and to be honest i dont really think thats wrong.but thats just me. i dont think shes ugly though.

I couldn't care less to be honest. It doesn't have an effect on me but my mother's obsessed with looking like a poster girl despite my countless lectures about them being heavily moderated.
Ah well. Western society.
I get where you are coming from, but at the end of the day they are just trying to sell a product, and so are Dove for that matter; they too don't choose models for their "inner" beauty, they choose models who make punters think "Ooh, I want to look like that!". Of course having had an eating disorder (multiple times) I can see how this affects our perception of beauty, I just doubt that Dove are that innocent when it comes to this.

Maybe one day she'll be her own"
This is why I have come to really like the makers of Dove. They've been doing this "Campaign for Beauty" thing that really gives women especially the right idea. We get stuff in the mail from them, such as pamphlets on natural beauty and what makes certain body types okay, contrary to popular views, and really promotes originality and proper skin care. You're not "fixing" things, you're taking care of them. They made that video...and I like it.
They do adverts over here in the UK that show not skinny "the perfect body and looks" women, but all kinds of women! From big to small, curvey bodies to the more straight shaped bodies. And I love it! Just goes to show that all women are beautiful and not just the models in magazines or high list celebrities.
And please don't put *in whiney voice* "but you put The ugly bitch needed sorting out!" I just wrote it okay. Deal with it! It's just a ****ing thread!
I don't think it is totally evil, I mean everyones knows those shots are changed with computers. I don't think anyone actually expects women to look like that I certainly don't. I think on both sides people know it's unachievable and it is obvios nobody has such pure skin or whatever. End of the day it's nice to look at and it sells but i'm so sure people expect such high levels of beauty. Hope that makes sense and doesn't come across the wrong way.

Oh i remeber doing my essay on this...*copies bit*
Photoshop is one example of how images can be altered and then used for advertising. There has been a lot of bad media attention recently because cosmetic companies and modelling companies, airbrush images of models, and use these altered images for advertising purposes. This enhances the power of the imagery as the image is being manipulated to make models appear thinner than they are, and also to change the models facial features to make them appear much prettier and flawless then they may actually be. This technique is also used in films for the same exact reason, giving the viewer a distorted perception of the truth. This imagery can have such a negative effect on some people, as some people come to believe that this is how they should look, which can cause people to develop eating disorders and similar disorders. It shows just how the imagery can have such a powerful effect on people.

I disagree that all men and women are beautiful, for the semantics. It's possible that everyone has some quality, whether aesthetic or not, but to call that "beauty" I think confuses things.
Otherwise, I don't care. It's nice to believe that such "beauty" exists, but I don't kid myself that those photos of models on shoots are necessarily what they look like. For appreciation, it's more fun to pretend they do look like that (e.g. opposite sex glamour models). I don't think Keira Knightley or whatever is what she looks like on a latest shoot, but so what?
When it comes to those striving to look like the latest model, that's a great deal of self-delusion, which I think is more about advertising in general. Is Rimmel London going to make you look like Kate Moss (before or after photo-shopping)? No. Does Joanna Lumley really have Privilege car insurance? I don't know, but the fact she's on the advert doesn't make the slightest difference to my opinion about them.
Sex sells. Educate the kids.
I cant choose - cause i hate it for the fact that beauty is now a completely unattanable thing that makes us so much more unhappy and low about our looks, but to strive more to look perfect (even thought really perfect isnt real). thought at the same time i cant say i hate it cause ive become one of those people obsessed over myself and all that jazz that comes with it. but i guess that proves that its an awful thing cause it causes people to turn into that and have such low self esteem. okay i guess i proved my own point!
