Co-codamol as you probably know is a mix of codeine and paracetamol. By taking too much you are seriously risking liver damage/ death from the paracetamol alone.

You need to see a Dr who can prescribe pure codeine in limited set amounts to wean you off it and prevent paracetamol poisoning.

Are you in the UK?

Also, can you edit out the amounts you are taking, this is against the rules of potential tip sharing.

Robert jeepers paracetomol poisoning is horrendous bro. In fact paracetomol should be banned. Once overdid it & felt like I had been savaged in the small of my back by a rhino.

Throw them all away.

Hi,

I think that your addiction might be psychological, allthough codeine (and all opiates) are highly addictive if you have been taking them for long enough to become addicted, without removing the APAP, your liver probably would have failed. Also you wouldn't have a set number of how many you take a day as, again like all opiates, codeine tolerance builds and falls very quickly. Codeine works, basically, by a percent of it changing to morphine in your liver this is already putting a enormous strain on it without the paracetemol. If you have been taking X a day for any great amount of time you have proably done ireperable damage to your liver and should seek medical advice right away. It is danagerous to take too much paracetemol a day for long term use.

I won't lie and say it'll be easy to kick, it'll be hard. But you'll feel much better after for doing so. You will probably feel quite ill for a few days and have typical withdrawal symptoms such as sweating and shaking. But that is better than spending a slow painful week in hospital as your organs shut down and you die a very painful death.

Good luck,
Mx

Hey there, try not to feel alone and so lost.
Step back and look at this situation. I myself am addicted to Codeine, which is the antagonist for your addiction, Co-Codamol comes in varying strengths and is a mix between Codeine and Paracetamol. Codeine is a mild - medium strength Opiate painkiller, and is easy to get addicted to. Do you find it makes you feel better? Is that why you started, or did you just accidentally take too many and found it hard to stop?

Many people are in this position, there is an entire forum devoted to it, now I'm unsure of your age and signing up to that forum is age dependant, and you have to be 18. But you can still have a look at it's information, it's http://www.codeinefree.me.uk.

There's one thing that's the most important thing first off, and that's the Paracetamol levels you will be intaking, Co-Codamol has 500mg standard of Paracetamol, more than 1000mg of Paracetamol, or two tablets, at a time is dangerous and can do damage to your stomach even in the short term, a lot of people over at CodeineFree who have been addicted to the combination pills with Paracetamol or Ibuprofen (or both), have been left with Ulcers, Severe Stomach and bowel issues, and a few have even ended up in hospital with Liver problems, and nearly died. I'm not trying to scare you or sound judgemental, I'm doing this for your own good. Try to tone down, even if only a few tablets, just to try and reduce the Paracetamol damage.

Try to tell someone, like a parent, friend, adult etc. that you trust and you think would understand, or even your GP or other health proffesional, they can help you, and maybe ween you off of them with some temporary Pure Codeine Tablets, that way you won't have the Paracetamol problems, and you will be able to come off of the Codeine slowly and less painfully.

Just don't beat yourself up or worry too much, it's not good but it can be dealt with. I hope I can help you more, so if you want to you can always PM me.

Good luck, JKT667.

Existence is Life. Life is pain. Death is the absence of life. The absence of life is the absence of pain. Ceasing to exist is ceasing to hurt.

But Death Fuels Pain. The cycle is never ending.
