need some advice about my housing situation

Okay... so basically I'm leaving with the Navy soon... not really really soon, October at the soonest most likely. I don't know my exact date yet, cuz the person who processes all the paperwork is pregnant on bedrest or something.

Right now I love the house I'm living in. It's in a nice location, my roommates are okay.... one of the drawbacks is I'm really not supposed to have my cat here, but I do anyway. But, when we signed the lease it was until June. So that means I can't leave until June 1st unless I find someone to take my place here. Right now, less than a month before school starts, is the perfect time to find someone. This is when everyone's looking... if I wait til later, I might not find someone.

The thing is, I may leave in October. I may not. It might be as late as January before I go. No one really knows much right now. Hopefully I'll know more by early on next week.

I already have a girl who wants to move in during September. The thing is, that doesn't give me very much time to get out of here. And I have no where else to go. Staying with family isn't an option at all. None of my other friends have places big enough for me to stay in until I leave. It's too far out to try to rent a hotel room every night, that'd cost me tons. And I'd be fine with sleeping in my car and such, but I can't with my cat. She needs a proper place to stay.

I just don't know what to do. I NEED this girl to take my spot here. But I also need to figure out what I'm going to do with myself and my cat after that.

Could you stay in an apartment for a bit? What happens if you move out without someone taking your spot? Ask around, see if there is anyone else besides the girl that's interested in living there.

I think I'm going to have to find an apartment that I would allow cats if I went that way, but the thing is I can't afford to stay in one all by myself (around here they start at $1,500-$2,000 a month, not including utilities). I'm still trying to find a month-to-month thing, but not having much luck. I only have til the end of this month to figure out what I'm doing.

If I move out without someone taking my spot here, I have to pay all my rent in full for what it would have cost me to live here until June... which would work out to be about $5,000.

I want to just move out now, but at the same time I don't. I mean, if I wait til after September, it'll be MUCH harder to find someone to move in here for me. At the same time, I want to stay just because of wanting the stability (which I don't seem to have much of right now).
