whoop whoop I got a job callback!

FINALLY - i have been looking for a job (if people recall) for absolutely AGES!
And I found one for a "casual housekeeping job" in one of the conference centres on the uni campus!

BUT MY FRIENDS KEEP TELLING ME HORROR STORIES ABOUT HOUSEKEEPING!
and i've never done it before!!

It's like £6.25 an hour for 0-16 hours a week - i am incredibly naive in the world of work but is that good pay?

And has anyone done a housekeeping job before? what's it like?!

I think i'm considering to take the job just because i'm desperate for money - but everyone keeps putting me off!!!

As a little kid you believed in fairytales,
that fantasy of what your life would be: white dress; prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You closed your eyes and had complete and utter faith.
Eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairytale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith,
that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

congratulations. Hope you get the job.
I'm sure it's not as hard or as nasty as your friend is making out. My mother is a cleaner and she often says once you get into your routine you're fine.

My friend is a cleaner and like above, she says once you get into a routine it's not too bad.

The pay is pretty good actually. Guess it depends on your age.

See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.

The pay isn't awful. I think minimum wage for ages 22 and over is about £5.80, so while its not astounding, its not bad. Its good if you're under 22 though :)

I would say go for it- try if for yourself, if you don't like it, quit. But casual work is so great at uni, its worth slogging it out for the extra cash. I work uni open days, its like 6 hours of walking about talking to prospective students and parents for £8.15 an hour. And while its only a few days a year, its a nice little boost when it comes about.

I've been a chambermaid at a hotel for a couple of years now (It's pretty much the same as a housekeeper.); it's a pretty decent job. My biggest complaint is that it can be mind numbingly monotonous at times but then a lot of jobs can be like that at times. I'm on £6 an hour so would say £6.25 is a good pay :)

After two years in the job I still haven't got any horror stories to tell so I don't see any need to worry about it :)
