Tests to measure Memory and Concentration

hey guys,

I've just been to see new psychiatrist, as part of the assessment he's asked me to go along to the Neuropsychiatry department to see how the depression is affecting my memory and concentration (I have been pretty absent minded of late... start to say something and forget what it was etc )

So what I'm wondering is - has anyone had any of these tests before? What do they involve?

thanks

Nope, but it actually sounds quite interesting. Though also scary.

When I had my psychiatric assessment, as standard he asked me some simple short term memory questions. He gave me a list of words and asked me which ones I could remember. Typically, I remembered the words I could personally relate to! I told him that I have an excellent long term memory, but my short term memory isn't so good. He seemed to accept that. So, that's all my experience.

I had a brief memory test once.
It mainly involved a series of numbers, a number was added each time and you had to say them in the right order (from memory of course)
Hope it goes ok.

I've never had experience of them but I imagine it's pretty simple stuff, sounds like it's mostly relaying what they've said back to them.
My nan has them every month or so (she has alzhiemers though) and they're can't be too awful otherwise she would notify someone.

Good luck with it all

I think that they usually involve logic testing and word recall tests. Is there any way that you can ask your psychiatrist or the department what it will involve before you go? I hope that everything goes well. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
