Wellbutrin

I'm curious if anyone has been on Wellbutrin for severe depression??

My long term boyfriend is 29 and SIs, has for a very long time. He was on Remeron for the past 2 or so months and even on the max saw no effect.

He just went to his first therapy session last week and I hope he decides to go back, we will see.

His other doctor decided to try him on Wellbutrin. So I'm wondering if it helped anyone and if there are any side effects that seem predominate with this medication.

Just looking for some first hand input vs reading some mainstream mumbo jumbo online.

I'm on Wellbutrin XL right now. I like it. I took it a year ago with lexapro, too. Also liked it then. No side effects for me. My hands shook for the first week, but that might've been from the other med (Geodon). I do get migraines if I forget to take it, but that's not a big deal. It's helped me, a lot. I've been SIing a lot less since I started taking it.

I hope everything works out for him. :]

Good to know.

Thank you so much for our .02, I'm hoping this helps him too.

The Remeron just seemed to discourage him after almost having zero effect on him.

I hope this one helps!

I was on Wellbutrin XL for about six months.. It helped me deal with the majority of the depression. The only side effects I remember were slight weight gain and horrible dry mouth.

The best to you and yours. :)

I was on Wellbutrin last time and needed klonopin (clonazepam) to kill the anxiety/panic attacks it brought out. They worked well for me as a mix. Good luck with it.

Wellbutrin is also known as Zyban - the "quit smoking" drug in the US ( Bupropion is the actual drug name used in both). So more people around you have probably used Wellbutrin than you (or they) realise. The drug has hallucinatory properties. I don't like any of this stuff long term and rarely for short term. You could ask people how they did on Zyban as well. Many mention feeling "buzzed" or manic.

I was on Welbutrin for about a month last summer, it was samples and my doctor couldn't give me anymore and I couldn't afford the prescription.
I was on it for anxiety, and it helped a bit at first, but then I got horrible nightmares and I was shaking more than I did before I started it..

It makes my head feel fuzzy and when I don't take it I feel blurred or shakey. I don't know how to explain it. But for the most part it works like a charm, although I do have it with other drugs.

I was on Wellbutrin for over a year and a half, and in my particular case it didn't really do much of anything. No side effects, no alleviation of depression, nothing really.
