Expired infraction points.

Why does the bar that appears on your profile telling you about someone's points stay around after the points have expired?
If they've expired and therefore don't count anymore what's the point?

Can other people see the pointless bar or is it just the member who received the points?

Ta.

Because RYL has a constantly changing Mod team over time, it is important that we keep a record of who has received a warning/infraction. This helps us to take past points into consideration in the future, so that you don't end up with two warnings for the same offence, unless they are very far apart.

Your infraction was very minor, but take this example :

A member is found to be disturbing members by hitting on them, or saying things that are out of line sexually, they receive a warning / infraction points for it, which then expire after the correct time. If we then hear from another member, 6 months or a year down the line that the member has been doing the same thing again - we know their history and even new mods not around when the original offence was committed can judge accordingly.

I can confirm that 'normal' members cannot see these infractions, only you and the Mods :)
