Dissociative Identity Disorder - Question

I have a friend who I think may have dissociative identity disorder. I've thought this for a while, but haven't told her because I'm not entirely sure. She's always been a big writer, and a couple of months ago she pulled out her journals and written all over the pages were things like 'Stop Telling Lies' and 'Liar'. Since then there have been moments that she's just not herself, like she's really not herself, she's different. Well anyways, my friend refuses to talk to therapists or anyone along those lines, so theres no way for her to be diagnosed.
Well, I was just wondering if there are any specific indicators that I should be aware of when I'm around her that may point out that she has DID and/or might be dissociating?
And if she is dissociating is it possible her alter hates me?

Remember that dissociation/split selves/fragmented psyches do not always = DID.
It does sound like she's highly defended. So being respectful of that, without openly colluding, is important.
And yes, alternate selves can be very hateful. Usually to do with something that happened to form them that gets transferred into the present.

Thanks for the reply. I do know that dissociation doesn't always = DID, but I did some reading on the internet, and it seemed to fit her best, but maybe I'm wrong, I wouldn't know, I'm not a doctor or someone who suffers from DID. =)? (Please don't interpret that as me having an attitude, it wasn't meant to come off that way if it does.)

It's okay to wonder if you're concerned about her. She may have DID, she may have severe BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), or another dissociative disorder.

The fact is, no matter what she has, how are you going to support her? If you're unsure, ask her gently how you can help. If she's open to it, ask her about these symptoms you experience from her. No matter what, let her know you're there for her. It must be scary for her to experience these symptoms, especially if it's DID.

My name is Matt, and I am a boy. Feel free to PM me :)

I have learned that the world is not a safe place. Not at all. But there are so many people who love me and want to keep me safe. And that is enough.
