installing an epson printer that isn't Vista compatible/sorted!

My flatmate has offered me her old printer, if it'll work on my pc.
I have Vista.
The printer is an Epson DX4800.
I understand that you have to install a bunch of drivers to get it to work.

1) Are these drivers free?
2) Is the Epson site the best place to download&install from?
3) How do I do it - install the drivers during, before or after the enclosed CD installation?
4) Is it likely to work?!

Thanks.

I am currently:

Yes there are drivers for Vista and they are free:

Vista will probably install the main driver you need anyway (once you turn printer on and connect it to computer).

Ok. Got it. Thanks. :)
So far so good.
Fingers crossed for the testing when I'm through!

It works!

Yay!

I'm an IT whizz! [Kind of!]

Now I just need a mini extension lead, because the lead that comes with it is like 10cm long, no joke!

I am currently:

Did you install the driver yourself or did Vista load it in?

I'm not sure! I downloaded it, and installed it, then shoved in the installation CD which did the rest.
Whether it'll work when I connect it all up again, we'll see! [I can't leave it plugged in due to complete lack of space.]
