i dont think its an illness in itself but a symptom of something else.
i selfharm because im down and need to focus on something other than what i am feeling so its a symptom of my depression.
im not sure if that helps a little?

its usually a symptom of depression, but is not in the diagnosis criteria.
it is, however, in the criteria of borderline personality disorder.
but can be for other illnesses/disorders too. take care x

I also agree with what has been said. But SI can just be a way of relieving stress, it doesn't really have to be a symptom of an illness, just a way of coping with a tough time in your life. What is it that triggers you to self harm? Do you think that it would help to talk things through with someone, such as your doctor, and see what they think? I hope you're alright. Please get in touch any time. Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
