I once had a girl here get mad at me when I confused Slovakia with Slovenia (she lived in one of them). I remember telling her that after memorizing 50 states I just don't have that much memory left over lol.

Haha I was just saying today that people in the UK probably know far more US states than they do counties. I asked my mum how many there were & she had no idea, neither did I, but we both knew there are 50 states in the US. I googled it earlier and apparently there are 86, including a county called Rutland which I have never heard of before.

I've been here for so long I even know the difference between West Midlands the county and West Midlands the region
However I still can't say "Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire" 3x fast
You have to learn USA states if you live outside the USA? Sounds useless. The only places people care about are California and New York. Memorise those two and you're done.. ^_^

Actually I was shocked to realize how many UK'ers go to Florida - Orlando namely (Disney World). I've known 3 kids from here whose parents even
owned vacation homes there.
Oh, huh I never would've thought that. Florida is too bloody humid. You step outside and immediately need a shower.
I was kidding, but there is some cynicism in my humour. Every time someone asks where I live I just say "A state in the US you've never heard of, North Carolina." And they say "Oh. Yeah I don't know where that is." "It's above South Carolina, duh."
XD
Anyway, as a kid I had to memorise all 50 states and their capitals, and I still remember them all.

Wow I live like just down the road from hemel. Look at it be all brought up in conversation and things.
I remember the Buncefield fire when the oil terminal blew up. Rosie "Nine" also lived there at the time.
See - I've been around UK affairs a long time now. The queen should make me something - not a knight or anything - maybe induct me into the Order of the Quasi Knowledgeable Yanks.
