Does anybody else keep a record of every time they self harm? I keep it on my laptop in a document called Dates and Times. I keep the date and the time I start to self harm and the time I end. I honestly don't know why I started doing it but, I'm glad that I did because it helps me keep track and I'm hoping it will maybe reveal a pattern in my self harming that I'm unaware of.
I don't. It never even crossed my mind (maybe it's because I would have no where to hide it). I tried to keep in mind the date that I decided to give up SI, but I forgot it. *sigh*
Kind of.
In my journal I put a * next to the date if I've SIed. Simple and only I know what it means in case anyone finds it. Although the little stars would be the lease of my concerns if someone read my journal but whatever.
It's good that you are looking for some sort of pattern. If you can find one it could help you stop. Good luck :)

I used to do this fow a while but the i kept forgetting so gave up.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. ~ Girl Interrupted

I used to keep a tally with an app on my ipod. At the end of each day that I got through, I would add 1 so I'd know how many days I'd gone. I had a friend who used to ask me now and then what day I was on. It helped me cause I knew she was going to ask and I wanted her to be proud. After a while, she quit asking. I started cutting, and quit counting. It's a good idea though. I think I'll start keeping track again.
For me, it's kind of a ritual of mine now. Right before I do it, I'll check the time and then directly after I will check the time again. If my lap top isn't near, then I'll write it down somewhere else so that I can type it in later. Thanks for the replies.
I never did cause for me,when i did/do it i was totally 'out of it', then once i had done it i was usually too weak/tired to do anything and once i had recovered, i didnt wanna remember i had done it. But I can see how it could be good for those that do do it
I've always recorded the date since the end of '08.
So have I. I started it in October '08 . Went the entire year of '09 without helf harming but, relapsed in January of 2010. Since then I've kept a thorough record of when I did it.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does this.
I have a document on my laptop, and in it I've written about every time I self harmed. I wrote where I was, what I used, how many times, where on my body I did it...
oh non-believer, please believe me.
is there honestly nothing in this world

I always write the date in my journal- usually the day after. Although I don't keep track of times. I use it to help me focus on how many days I've managed not to. xx
I did that until my dad started poking around my computer (to try to fix it- it keeps turning off randomly). I figured I'd have some explaining to do if he found it, so I deleted it. Yeah though, I did.
