Ok, i'm going to blame Zurg for this one, coz she said
"I have never actually tasted peanutbutter.... It's not something we have lots of here in Denmark"
... which reminded me that when my girlfriend went back to Japan recently, she took a little jar of Marmite back with her coz it's something she's come to love here in Uk, but that doesn't exist over there. Now with that, & Zurg's peanut butter defficiancy, what other things are there in your society/culture which you think really ought to be shared with the rest of the world?
I've already said Marmite & peanut butter, & i'll add flip-flops to the list, so what else?
Spread the love & the genius of your culture...
SONIC!!!!!!
no one from the UK has heard of sonic that i know of.

Sonic, to me, is a little blue hedgehog with a fixation for gold rings that go "bing"
Agreed
I love all the arabic food stuff like shwarmas and cheese manaish and the scrummy juices - I miss those in England

(i know what you mean tho..it's neat hearing about the UK meals, although half the time i have no idea what they are talking about, they still sound good ;o)
yorkshire pudding- a batter, like pancake batter is put in the oven till it rises into a bowl shape and then served with a roast meat (usually beef or chicken) potatoes and veggies, with gravy on the top. mmmmmm. sometimes if you make a giant yorkshire pud you can put the whole meal inside.
pasties- usually puff pastry, filled with stuff like corned beef and potato, cheese and onions, mince and veg, pretty much anything like that. yummy yummy yummy. ph and a variation is sausage rolls, which is sausagemeat instide pastry. recently my friend from america came over and she had never heard of a sausage roll.
i know you used to be in the UK but now it isn't. Bring back Fluff! me and a friend are recovering from a fluff addiction after buying it in selfridges last month. why is it the only place in the uk i can find it. i had forgotten how much i loved it.
If I pretended I was blind
And struck it from my mind
Would it still be there?
What if I'd do anything
To make it seem all right
I finally got Lei'd in Vets....It was an enjoyable experience!
Toast and beef dripping *drools at the very thought* - seems to be a very old-fashioned English thing
ah good old english health food

They originally came about as a snack for Cornish miners to eat while deep in the mines - There was never a set recipe as they were merely leftover meat, veg and gravy from the previous evenings meal wrapped in a flat semi-circular pastry with a thick crust around the edge (as shown in the pic Sam posted, not the now typical ones with the crust over the top). The crust served as a 'handle' for the miners to hold it it by, thus meaning that they didn't end up eating the black grime on their hands, and was discarded afterwards. It works too! I've done it many a time when I've been either working on a farm or up to my eyeballs in grease.

I was actually once told after a cholesterol test that I needed to INCREASE my level. Since then I've become something of an exponent of all things lardy!
Besides, anything that comes from beef tastes goooooooood!

Not many people realise that it can actually be as dangerously low as it can be high.
And too true about tea - my mum said the poorest excuse for a cuppa she's ever had was in a 5* hotel, of all places, in Washington. She said it was so bad that she was teaching the hotel staff how to make it properly! lol

I remember in French at school, we were asked by this French student what our favourite food was and I was asking how to say "Peanut butter on toast" in French, and she was like we don't have peanut butter in France...
