would you be willing to go for outpatient therapy????
my moms talking about a therapist an hour (!!!!) away. i understand that hes very good, and can continue on the path i was on in residential, but i'd really rather have an ok therapist and some time to do what i like, especially as i have to see him twice a week to begin.
this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
I travel over an hour twice a week to see my psych.
It's worth it.
I think if he's good, and will continue the treatment you've already been receiving then it's totally worth it.
Other therapists are unlikely to work that way and very likely to have different views on your treatment and may disregard what work has already been done, or go by a different model... But it is your call.
Maybe try him out for a couple of visits, see what happens?
I think an hour is reasonable.
I travelled 2 hours to see a private therapist but that was just a one off.
I travel over an hour to go to family therapy with my brother because it is nearer where he lives.
Find out what is in the area around where it is and maybe see if there is a cinema or a nice restaurant/cafe that you could go to after visits so that you are making a day of it rather than just going for therapy.
I travel over an hour by bus for therapy, and I have to change buses as well. It's a slow process, but my therapist is really good, and that makes it totally worthwhile.
i used to travel an hour each way twice a week. i'd be willing to go that far for the right therapy/therapist. but it is a long way and if you don't think it's worth it, don't feel you have to go - tell your mum. but do find something that you ARE happy with
I used to miss half a aday of school once a week, get dropped off in the morning, hour of therapy then an hour on the bus. it wasn't worth it i hated her haha but i think if there's an especially good therapist it's worth it, maybe you can schedule it to avoid missing important lessons.
Let the Force be with you

I travel for over an hour to see a study skills specialist (he's expert in people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, I don't get anyone else helping with my Asperger's). Its definitely worth it, he's really good.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
I think if the therapist is good then it is worth a try. Speak with your school tutor and see if there is some work you can do while on the bus, keep in contact with your class teachers and see if you can make up any work that may be missed.
The school has to make a reasonable adjustment to enable you to be able to go to therapy.
If, after a while you find you do not get on with the therapist, or it is too disruptive for school then you can re-evaluate and see if there are more workable solutions.
Do give this a try first though - It may be the help you need right now.
