GP appointment total waste of time

I managed to speak to a duty worker and told her how bad I was feeling. She told me I need to get a social life. I said that I had an appointment with the GP later and asked then if there was any point going. She didn't seem to think so. She also said that if my clinical psychologist sessions were upsetting me I should think about stopping as noone was making me go.

I am so tired of crying. I don't know what to do now and I'm not sure I can even drive to the GPs as I'm so upset now.

I am currently:

Hi.

It sounds as if your duty worker (not sure what they are, sorry) wasn't as supportive as maybe you would've like them to be?

You must of made the appointment in the hope that they would be able to help. What has changed now, to make you think that they won't be able to offer you some sort of support or advice?

We're all here for you xx

Come in.
Can you hear me?
Am I even talking?
There is so much I want you to know.
I am counting on someday you'll wake up and see me.
But you don't wanna know.

I'm over it now.

Do you think that you can 'get a social life'- not put so drastically?

And, another question immediately, did you end up going to your GP appointment? Maybe if you think it is helping you then you should, it might ease things to talk some more. It sounds as if you trust your duty worker- even though she isn't terrific help- so keep talking to her, you hopefully will do. As for the clinical psychology, I think that revisiting such upsetting issues will naturally get to you, so I don't know as it is about whether that is the case. I suppose it is if you feel it is of use.

Take care xx

GP appointment pointless

Thanks. The duty worker is just someone at CMHT. It varies who you get and I've never met her.

I asked the GP for a my repeat prescription for a physical condition and told him that I'd been taking x amount which is double what I should. As I have had a recent blood test and said I'd been doing it for a while he gave it to me. He even asked me which amount I wanted although he knows I've taken too much before. I told him I didn't care.

He asked if there was anything else and I said I was sick of feeling like this and I felt really ill. Throughout I'd hardly said anything and not looked at him. He printed off the prescription, but ripped off the repeat bit. So I just left. No matter what I say nothing changes.

It sounds as though he isn't really helping you and that you don't feel he's listening. I understand that must be infuriating to have him brush you off and not to really care. Maybe you could talk about it at your next appointment, as he hasn't given you a repeat prescription?

Otherwise, is there anyway you could see someone different?

Take care xx

Thanks. I keep waiting for him to retire, as he is 70. It is a GP clinic with lots of different surgeries. If I don't see him, then I can't see anyone else at that clinic. I live in a village and already have to go to a different village. I won't see him for the repeat I just have to ask the receptionist for it. They haven't noticed for the last few months I've been taking too much, so I doubt he cares. He gave me a month's worth which is enough.
