My Dr is great!

I just wanted to say how great my GP is as there are so many threads people who are unsure about going to their Dr's so I thought I should say mine is great and to go to yours and give it a go!

I saw mine today and she is so honest. She said she wasn't happy giving me a months worth of meds, I normally get a weeks at a time and I wanted a months so it is less hassle. She agreed to 2 weeks. So I am safer with less meds.

Then we spoke about the switch of anti depressant the pain clinic Dr wanted me to switch to which is licenced for pain relief also.
GP said it was not suitable for me as it had no licence or use for OCD or ED. And as my jaw pain isn't life threatening, yet my MH is (if I got iller and... well...) so changing my meds roght now is not an option she would advocate.

She is just a great GP. She knows so much about MH and really 'gets it'.

As I been worryign about switching meds and now my mind is at ease and I love my GP even more!

Just wanted to share.

i'm tired of chasing my dreams.
i'm just gonna ask where they're going,
and hook up with them later.

I agree, some GPs are great at dealing with these things, and some are not. I did have a GP when I was at university, who saw me every week, to make sure I was ok until I got a care co-ordinator. He was absolutely lovely, but he did used to be a mental health nurse!

Anyway I am glad you GP has been supportive!

Hey, that's fantastic =]
I have a great GP too. Although I have to get weekly meds =/

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

My GP is great. Though he didn't trust me earlier to pick up my prescription and then hand it over to the person who looks after my meds and gives them to me daily, until I managed to convince him that I'd already sorted when I was going to meet up with them to give them the tablets. Ah well. I guess it's cos he cares. I've got to see him fortnightly until my CMHT referral comes through (it would be weekly but I can't afford the time off studying). It's taken a while to get to know and trust him, but he's great.
