Triggering (SI) - the voice continues

The last time i posted, I kept hearing The Voice, one that i hadn't heard in a really long time and it was taking over. I said in the post that i was going to cut. i didn't cut and i'm pretty proud of myself for it but the voice has been around alot lately, telling me to do all sorts of horrible things. i've gotten really good at ignoring it...but it's usually with drugs and alcohol.

Tonight i'm sober.

I can hear every single word over and over again and I don't know what to do. i don't want to cut because it's been so long but i want to because then maybe it'll shut the hell up...

I just dont know what to do :-/

Sorry for the waste of space...i have no one to talk to about this

You aren't wasting space- RYL is here for support and I'm glad you're reaching out for it :) I'm glad that you're sober tonight and also well done on not cutting yourself. It sounds as if the voice you hear is very prevalent in your life and tries to dictate to you what you should be doing- does it resemble anybody? Maybe you could try writing down reasons why it might be present to help you work out how to fight it. You're doing so well at the moment, just keep fighting.

Take care xx

Hey kimmiewynnie,
Im glad youve been able to post here again and talk about your difficulties as well as hearing voices. Well done for not cutting it must be really frightening to have the voice inside telling you to do horrible things . Thats great to hear youve managed to ignore it although drink and drugs will help you up to a point but using either drinking and taking drugs can kill you .

I hope you can reach out and get professional help for yourself with stopping the drinking and drugs and helping you to cope better with your voice .

Its great that tonight you are sober well done,

i had a quick look on the web and found a link to a website that might be helpfull.

Working to Recovery - About Us
Find out more more about the Working To Recovery Team members, Ron Coleman, Karen Taylor, Jim Campbell, Anthony C Stratford and Paul Baker
they have some books on hearing voices that might be helpful to you.

Hearing Voices: A Common Human Experience (Paperback)

A beautiful book which will be very valuable for people hearing voices. --Professor Marius Romme (Co-founder, Hearing Voices Movement)
One of the most sensitively thought-through pieces of writing on voice hearing. This book will, I am sure, affect many people in a positive way. --Ron Coleman (former national co-ordinator, Hearing Voices Network)

Living with Voices - 50 Stories of Recovery A new analysis of the hearing voices experience outside the illness model, resulted in accepting and making sense of voices. This study of 50 stories forms the evidence for this successful new approach to working with voice hearers.
The Voice Inside: A practical guide for and about people who hear voices
This handbook is an updated and combined version of two previously published

Working With Voices
The new second edition victim to victor workbook for voice hearers to identify and explore their experiences and to make plans which help them to move on in their life.

Intervoice: - The international community for hearing voices
2nd, 3rd, 4th November 2010 Hearing Voices World Congress and INTERVOICE meeting .... by Professor dr. Marius Romme, MD.Sandra Escher PhD, Tim O'Kennedy.

Hearing Voices Movement is a philosophical trend in how people who hear voices are viewed. It was begun by Marius Romme, a professor of Social psychiatry at the University of Limburg in Maastricht, the Netherlands and Sandra Escher, a science journalist, who began this work after being challenged by a voice hearer as to why they could not accept the reality of her voice hearing experience. They advocate an approach of using techniques employed by those who have successfully coped with their voices. This can include acceptance and negotiation with the voices. (Source: Wikipedia)

hope this is helpfull

Dave
