bp and bpd traits...anyone know what happens next?

i did an assessment with my psychologist and it has showed i have bi polar traits and boarderline personality disorder traits with inner aggression towards self....(my cpn told me this today, am seeing my psychologist on tuesday for further info)
basically i am asking if anyone has experienced this and what happened?

edit: oh i have also been referred to do the STEPPS programme....any one done this? what did you experience from this?

thankyou

Part of my diagnosis is bipolar and I have been told that I've had borderline traits in the past. What do you mean, what happened?
Treatment depends on the individual really.

i am also on seroquel xr 200mg which i've been on for nearly a year,
a week ago got given an anti depressant (cipralex due to a horrible depressed episode i'm still in which has been 2 weeks now) which got more than doubled (from 5mg, to 10mg and tomoz i start taking 20mg)
and diazepam 2mg x2 a day(which i only take when i feel i need it, cpn said i can take up to 4 a day if i really need it)

i think the cipralex has made me restless (the kind of restless i get on a high episode) but my cpn dismissed the idea...

i dunno if any of this is relevent

How old are you? That might be the reason that they've only diagnosed 'traits' rather than the full-blown disorder, that you're too young for them to make a final decision about it.
They will do further assessment and such I would hope. The Cipralex may well be causing symptoms of mania or hypomania. I have to avoid SSRI's completely because they send me into a manic episode. Your CPN probably dismissed the idea because she doesn't have the medical knowledge to know either way and didn't want to sound like she disapproved of the psych putting you on it.
I would suggest that you speak to your psychiatrist about how you think the Cipralex is effecting you instead, sooner rather than later.

Right okay, well your old enough for the full diagnosis. Maybe they just aren't sure yet. Good idea to give him / her a ring for piece of mind.

At a guess, you've an insecure sense of self and attack yourself a lot, maybe because your mood dips and peaks frighteningly and you don't know how to handle it or retain a solid sense of yourself.
Translated. :)
