Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this disorder? I am starting to believe that my boyfriend has this. He has all of the symptoms just not two of the psychotic ones. I want to reach out for more information or for people who have some experience with this disorder in their personal lives (patients, environment.)
Autistic symptoms
Impaired social behavior or sensitivity, similar to that seen in autism may involve:
- Social disinterest
- Detachment, avoidance of others, or withdrawal
- Impaired peer relations
- Highly ambivalent attachments
- Limited capacity for empathy or understanding what others are thinking or feeling
Affective symptoms
Affective symptoms may involve:
Psychotic symptoms
Thought disorder (or psychotic) symptoms may involve:
- Sudden, irrational intrusions on normal thoughts
- Magical thinking
- Confusion between reality and fantasy
- Delusions such as paranoid thoughts or fantasies of special powers
Also I am starting to think that the headache he is suffering from might not be caused by conversion disorder but by early schizophrenia. I have read somewhere that in (most of) schizophrenic patients the frontal lobe is always active, that's the case with him but it also gives him a massive headache.
He believes that he is watched and laughed at 99% of the time. He doesn't leave his digs unless I want him to or unless he feels guilty and tricks himself into taking me to the cinema. When he tricked himself and he got ill two days later he blamed me because I had cut his hair (it was splitting quite badly, really unhealthy) and he went to sleep with his hair wet, and before that we went to the cinema and he was cold and didn't change his clothes. So that was my fault???
He yells at me sometimes for no reason. (And I mean NO REASON AT ALL. I say one small stupid thing and he just snaps.) He is weary, panicky most of the time.
I could go on like this. I have only read one thing yet about McDD, about a woman who had struggled a lot in her life, then she became a nurse, she ended up on a psych ward and fought everyone she met, then she discovered that she had this illness which is making her life crap. Of course to the general audience it's more flattering to say the disorder is related to autism than that it would be related to bpd and schizophrenia. Aghh, I hate this world sometimes.
So maybe I just needed to vent... As some of you know he's been in a psych ward for 2-3 years from 2004-2005 to 2007... How come we've been together for a year now and I know what's going on now, and they haven't seen anything? He told me about faking schizophrenia and being "accused" of having bpd before he was admitted... A few weeks ago a psych diagnosed him with PDDNOS... Were they right after all?
