depression treatment without consent

Has anybody been treated for depression against their will? i know you can be detained under mha but how would staff actually treat you if you physically refused to take the medication which has been prescribed?

During the first three months of the section 3 you can be treated and medicated against your will, even with injections and antipsychotics and in some cases even electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)- (in emergencies or if the treatment is authorised by the mental health act comissioners panel). After three months, you must consent to treatment. If you do not, an independent doctor must confirm that the patient can still be treated against their will if it remains in their best interests.
from the mental health information page at the top of the page.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Hi star runner, I used to be a HCA in a teenage ward (despite being ill myself)
My experience of medication was that we would use every technique possible i.e. taking away privileges, persuasion but I don't recall anyone being forced to take meds even though we were told we could - I never saw it in practice.

"John, being brave is going where no man has gone before and with Lizzy Stark, that is NOT what you'll be doing!" - Aunt Polly.

“I told him I was going to betray you, and betray Lyra, and he believed me because I was corrupt and full of wickedness; he looked so deep I felt sure he'd see the truth. But I lied too well. I was lying with every nerve and fiber and everything I'd ever done...I wanted him to find no good in me, and he didn't. There is none.”
