Have any of you seen it yet. From what i've heard it has to do with suicide, self harm, etc
Where i live they aren't showing it at any theater so i've got to wait a while. what i've heard is that it changed people's lives, it made them really think about the people they walk by everyday especially at school, and how you don't know what people are really going through; you can't tell just by looking at them.
but i want to know if anyone here has seen it and what were your opinions about it.
And if you're still wondering what it's about here is a link to see the trailer

And here is a written summary from IMDb
The film tells the story of Jake Taylor, a young man who has it all: a basketball scholarship, the ideal girlfriend, and the right friends. But faced with the demands of the in-crowd, Jake has written off his childhood best-friend, Roger. Isolated and mistreated, Roger finally takes his anger to the extreme when he shows up one day on campus with a gun.
Jakes last-ditch effort cant stop Roger. And the events which follow rock Jakes world. He begins to question everything. But most of all, he cant stop asking: Could I have saved Roger?
In his search for answers, Jake finds himself looking for the next Roger. He reaches out to geeks, losers, and loners. But crossing the strict high school caste lines threatens everything Jake values. And pushes him to answer the most important question of all: What do I want my life to be about?
This film doesnt shy away from the real struggles facing our teens.. It is rated PG-13 because it portrays some of these issues accurately: from teen sexuality, to abortion, to cutting, to drug and alcohol abuse, to suicide.
But because it does so, teens are praising this film for its realistic and relevant portrayal of their world and responding enthusiastically to its message. As teen author and speaker Zach Hunter comments: It conveys the raw emotions of life and the ups and downs of high schoolMy friends who have seen the film are already talking about it and encouraging others to go see it.
BTW
I've heard from others that this movie should've come with a trigger warning, because there is a cutting scene. jsyk. just want everyone to be careful

Your welcome :)
i heard from others that it was triggering because there is a cutting scene so if you do see it (not sure where you are with SI) be careful.
The thing it we want to see it, but we are already aware of this stuff, we need the people who don't understand mental illness and other "teen issues" to see it :)
Let the Force be with you
I'm not short, I'm space efficient
I was so lookign forward to watching it, then I read reviews saying it was vehemently christian. I have absolutly no problem with religious people, at all( my family is religious) i just dont like being told adopting faith will solve all my problems.
"For all its initial attempts to soften its religiosity... To Save a Life is about as subtle as this closing credit: 'The producers would like to thank: GOD.'
Fair enough, But shouldn't a film that deals with issues that affect people from so many different walks of life (self harm, suicide, bullying) try and include all those people?
Soz if im grumpy and ruining it.

I get what your saying, but the thing is that a lot of people don't know stuff like this happen. Especially high schoolers; they don't realize the affect that their words and actions have on other people.

I believe this is going to keep a lot of people from seeing a really great movie. ok yea they talk about god, and church, and the character Jake has a change of heart about religion, but people need not use that as an excuse not to see.
From what Friends have said and what i've seen this movie is not centered around the church.
I'm not meaning to sound mean; if i am i'm really sorry.
but is it possible to get over that aspect and see the message behind the movie " A kid who made a mistake and is living with regret, but now wants to show his school, his town that it's not right to exclude people based off looks, and if they don't hang with the right crowd"
Damn... watched the trailer, and now I want to see it SO bad...
And damn impulses... I just gave in and bought one of the shirts off the website. Can't wait to get it though
If someone ever says to you "You need to stop thinking so much," call them ignorant in your head and keep thinking deeper. It is this mentality that breeds stupidity and sheeple. Your mind is the most important tool you have. If you stop using it, it will atrophy.
I suppose I maybe am getting a bit ahead of myself, I dont think you are being mean. :)
Yeah, I will watch it the message is a good one, and will be interested to see how its presented. Im just quite wary of the fact it could easily fall into many cliches that dont accurately convey the complexity of the issues.
Does anyone know about UK release dates?

: ) thx, i wanted to get my point across but didn't want to sound harsh. i just hope this movie isn't a dissapointment, reviews has said otherwise.
BTW: i looke it up in the UK but is said a release date is unknown. : (
oohhh that looks good, i hope it gets a release date here on DVD, shame it didnt come to the cinema here in the UK, i work in one and of course would havetaken you all
I haven't seen it; hadn't even heard of it, to be honest. Now I'm trying to find out if it's in cinemas anywhere near me, but it doesn't look like it. :( I hope it comes out on DVD soon, because I watched the trailer and it looks really good. Thanks for sharing.
Edit: Apparently it should come out here (Aus) on DVD around June of this year? Not sure how reliable that info is, but still, I can't wait.
