Living With Aspergers-?

Hi, I'm 21yo female.. i found out i have AS 2 months ago, and suddenly my life has made so much more sense.. I have alot of emotional difficulties with dealing with people, cause i feel so 'crazy' and frustrated when i cant predict what's happening..

i couldnt communicate well asa teen, so i used to just draw pictures everywhere and SH.. i didnt have a large repertoire of facial expressions so noone knew how horrible i felt all the time, even my parents.. an odd time.. but its okay, im much better now..

id love to hear of any people my age or older that have the same diagnosis or have an ASD who could offer me some advice, or stories?

Hey - I don't have Asperger's but my husband has it to some degree or another (not sure of his exact diagnosis), but he has taught himself how to use facial expressions/body language to describe how he's feeling. I'm not quite sure how he did it - just butted his way on through I'm guessing, watching other people & analyzing how they responded to certain things - but you can hardly tell he's any different than "the rest of us" now. (Sorry, hope that didn't come across as patronizing; I certainly don't mean it to be.)

I can ask him if he would be willing to tell some stories about his life with AS, but I'm not sure if he really has any other than what I've told you. I mean, he was picked on as a kid, and he didn't learn about his autism spectrum disorder (that's how the pdoc phrased it I believe) until he was 19 (or so) due to his dad and stepmom keeping it from him. Other stuff is more personal.

But he's 28 now, and I can tell you that other than having some difficulty relating to people at times, he has "turned out" wonderfully. He is more emotional than you would expect from someone with AS - in a good way - and has learned to show his emotions well, most of the time anyway. We've been married for going on 2 years now and I couldn't have asked for a better husband. :)

Anyway. Hope some of that helped. :) (Oh, and he thinks that I also have some characteristics of AS... not sure about that myself, but it looked like it a few years ago.)

*hugs*
