BPD & Not being able to stick to things

I don't know about any of you guys, but I have real trouble in sticking to things.

I always start off doing stuff and get bored/lose interest or burn out. Or I'll have a new, really amazing idea and decide I should do that instead.

I've only just realised this is a feature of bpd - doh!!

anyone got any advice as to how to deal with it?

I'm like it with all sorts in my life... hobbies, domestic chores, career decisions. It's a total nightmare!

Really, seriously. Any advice, I'd appreciate it.

Ta
xx

I know what you mean. My friends are at uni, but due to my inability to stick to anything, I'm still trying to complete college. I can't stick to anything, even my name and gender identity.
My whole life is affected by it too. I don't really have much advice apart from sometimes it's ok to change your mind.

Sometimes you have to laugh, or you would cry.

It doesn't feel ok to change my mind though.

I feel like an idiot when friends/family ask what are you doing atm? and I always say, oh I'm doing something different now...

I'm 36. I'm tired of not knowing my left from my right.

I didn't know that this was a symtom of BPD, I just assumed it was a personality quirk!
I'm the same as you.... if I need to be doing somthing for more than 15 minutes or so, it will most likely lay half finnished. Which is why one of the tips I use, it to try and keep things short and sweet. If I know it's just going to take 10 minutes - like loading the dishwasher- I can usually just get on with it, because you know it's not going to get to long winded. If it's somthing thats going to take a bit of time - like having to clean all of the windows in your house, then I split it up, and set small targets, like clean 2 windows, then you can stop and make a cuppa and have a break for a while. I tend to stick at things a bit longer by doing it this way, and if I do quit, I feel like I have put in a bit of effort, which makes it feel a bit less like quitting, which in turn makes me more likely to give it another go! :)

Hope you find somthing that works for you, you just have to kep trying.
