Triggering (SI) - A story of sorts...

I am going to tell a story
It is one filled with pain
But it is one that ends in triumph

Cuts litter her body
There is no where else for her to turn but to her blades
Darkness and pain are part of her everyday life
And the cuts grow in number
Deeper each day

Finally, unable to take it
She cries out for help in her own way
Help is given
And there, she meets others like her
And learns she really isn’t alone in the struggle

Days past swiftly and happiness is part of her life again
But, this high refuses to last
Pain and drama once again become the norm
Knocking her back to old habits

For awhile she is back in the dark
But she knows there is more to life than pain
And slowly, she grasps His hand and starts climbing
Never taking her eyes off of Him and the light
And little by little she regains her footing in life
With her friends and Him by her side
She knows that recovery is within grasp

One week, two, a month, six, finally a year comes
And yet she is still haunted by her scars littering her body
She realizes, time is something that heals
And as more of it passes, she changes
Becoming more confident in herself and the world
Coming out of her shell, embracing the life she has been given

Realizing that as time has passed, her scars have faded
The pain has eased, and she is finally ready
To share her story with those that can take comfort from it
And now, as she becomes who He made her to be
She realizes, she was never alone in the first place

--So...this is kinda my story...in poem form I guess you could call it that. Hope you guys like it.

You have to remember that those scars are not who you are - they don't define you as a person. They're just..marks. Footprints from a different time...a different life.
