Music Therapy - Please read...Questionaire!! *Safe*
Firstly - I do have permission from the mods to post this :)
Basically, as part of my college course we have to do a 'Special Subject Investigation', which is pretty much just a huge research project/essay thingy. It has to be something music related, so I've chosen to study music therapy.
As part of my research I need to interview people etc, so am looking for volunteers to answer a few questions for me (see below). As my study is mainly looking at adults, you must be over 18. It would also be really great if a couple of people would be interested in having a slightly more detailed conversation with me about their experiences of music therapy as would like a couple of mini case studies if possible.
All responses will be anonymous, and you can either reply to this thread or PM me :)
Many Thanks
Jenny (Jelly Fairy)
Questions:
1.) What were you offered music therapy as a treatment for?
2.) How many sessions of music therapy did you have (either number of sessions or an amount of time)?
3.) Where did you go for music therapy sessions? E.g. hospital/psychiatric unit/mental health centre/at home.
4.) Please briefly describe a typical music therapy session. What kind of activities did it involve?
5.) Do you think music therapy helped you? Was it useful?
6.) Any other comments/information about your experiences with music therapy:

Hehe, I am so dying to say 'oh no she doesn't!' (just as a joke, of course)
I am 18 now but I had the therapy when I was 17/mainly 18 but on an adolescent ward, can I still PM you my info, Jenny? Music therapy was one of the best things I had in hospital and I just wish it was possible to still have it..

The Mole was bewitched, entranced, fascinated. By the side of the river he trotted as one trots, when very small, by the side of a man who holds one spell-bound by exciting stories; and when tired at last, he sat on the bank, while the river still chattered on to him, a babbling procession of the best stories in the world, sent from the heart of the earth to be told at last to the insatiable sea.

I had music therapy for nearly a year and I have to say, I found it to be one of the most beneficial groups on the programme. I'm no longer in the same kind of treatment, but the experience completely changed the way that I use and listen to music and it's one of the things that has really stuck with me as something I can use to help myself.
Will send you a PM answering your questions and would be happy to help in any other way that I can.
(I'm 24 btw, and was 22-23 when I participated in the group).
