Should I claim DLA?

I don't know whether I have the right to claim DLA because I am working. I only do a 20 hour week because it's all that I can cope with, well I hardly cope with it at all. I have been off sick for the past 5 months and have been in and out of hospital because of suicidal urges. I don't know if I should try claiming it or not, I have depression and anxiety which makes working and daily life difficult for me.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.

I agree, DLA can be claimed as well as working anyway.

This is the eligibilty information; http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Disabled...ce/DG_10011816

I think it's worth a shot. It's a process that is much easier to go through if you help and support to do though, so it'd be worth speaking to your team and getting the support and back up letters if you are able to do so. xxxx

I work full time and get DLA. They know this and I still get middle care and low rate mobility.

Do you think you would be better off quitting your job or do you think you can carry on with it?
I can't remember how many hours you can do with still being allowed to claim but there is such thing as 'working DLA.' I think the best thing that you can do is get a form and fill it out and see what happens. It's definitely worth a try if you are struggling with money and failing that just try claiming for standard income support.

Effect on other benefits and entitlements

If you start to get Disability Living Allowance it might increase the amount of other benefits or credits you're entitled to, such as Income Support, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.
Disability Living Allowance is normally ignored as income for working out these income-related benefits and credits.

DLA is always ignored as a income. it can only be a positive thing, cos the rate of dla you get determines how disabled you are, eg what level of disability premium you get for other bens, including housing benefit. dla is completely based on your disability, if you worked 40hrs a week, and earned £1million a week, you would still get dla! if you decide you can't work, you should try claim ESA, and if you were getting dla at the same time, you would get more ESA.

Yeah I have medium rate DLA and it helps.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
