Hey,
I can understand how you feel - I can't pretend I haven't thought like that before. But as everyone else has said, losing someone is always hard on the friends and family, but losing someone to suicide is a million times harder. It's incredibly painful to realise that they were hurting so much, you're going to wonder why you didn't know things were so bad, you're going to feel guilty. You're going to feel angry with them for leaving like that, for not talking to you. You're going to wonder what things could have been like if they hadn't chosen to take their own life. It's not something you're ever going to get over properly.
But, it's really not just about how your friends and family will be affected - it's also about what you could be missing out on. Things change, they don't generally stay bad forever. If you killed yourself, you'd be missing out on an awful lot of things. You wouldn't be giving yourself a chance at life. So much good can happen, even after things have been so awful for so long, and it really isn't a good idea to deprive yourself of all the things you could experience. If you killed yourself, you'll never know how great things could have been.
With regards to going to a "better place", there aren't many religions that teach that you'll be going there automatically, particularly if you commit suicide (I'm not saying this is the case, just making a point..). And what if there is no better place, what if this is all there is? Then you won't feel relief, or anything, you just won't exist anymore. So it's really a no-win situation.
Any particular reason you're asking? I hope you're alright, I'm here if you want to talk or anything. Take care,
Hanna
