yes most of the time i think it is okay i am just not a fan of the guys that get drunk and cry when everyone else is having a good time and he is just a drunken fool
"I don't wanna be the girl who has to fill the silence. The quiet scares me because it screams the truth. Please don't tell me we had that conversation; I won't remember, save your breath cos whats the use?"
To elaborate, I think it is the responsibility of a man to be the rock in a family/relationship. Emotional fortitude/stability are qualities the shine favorably on a man. I figure this is meaning breaking down in public or in the presence of another person that you're crying in front of. I myself am guilty of such a thing, but I do not think it is right nor did is shine favorably on me.
For a man to cry in private is his own business, We all mourn, but it is a man's place to be strong when no one else is in my opinion.
Yes.
We are all human. We all have feelings. We all need to let ourselves express our emotions. So gender shouldn't be seen to contradict those basic truths and needs.
Yeah I see your POV, Blittle. And I mean sure, why can't a man be the 'rock' of a relationship? I have no problem with it being like that. What frustrates me is that it is expected of men to fulfil this role. It's yet another example of how screwed up social roles are. In my opinion these obligations for a man to be strong, void of feelings, resilient to pain, etc are awful. I'm not a cold piece of metal that can expected to press on through harm. I don't see why men can't be more passive in relationships.

Nous avons abrité tous les rêves du monde,
Et c'est dans le soleil que nous avons grandi.
The roles I described are not what society has in mind today. Today's roles in western society are more like you described. The fact that society has deviated from these roles is the problem in my opinion.

i think in this day and age it's just fine for men to show their emotions.
Trouble is I think we're still a little behind the times. Have patience, we're slow learners.

Bah, If anything we should go a little further "behind the times". Lets get some men like Jim Anderson (Father Knows Best) back, from the TV show not the radio show.

ah yes. when men wore suits every day. Children worked on their homework with stupid smiles on their faces. and women made cookies and lemonade everyday.
Men were men and their shirts were removed every five minutes and women screamed and had to be rescued by the manly men and children were immortal and couldn't get more than grazed.
Baring in mind all I know about the 50's is from old sci-fi movies. :P
