The butterfly.

[Delirium.]

I pick open the lock on my solid chamber door,
slowly drifting carelessly across the floor,
when something wondrous appeared and caught my eye,
unlike anything I've ever seen before.

I open the window,
and to my hand would appear,
a beautiful butterfly shining and clear,
i blink a few times to wash away the dream,
but the butterfly is much more real then it seems.


I well up the courage,
and hold the butterfly close to my lips,
a single kiss to betray all that is real today.

i have seen my butterfly flirting about others faces,
and it was then when i deny,
perhaps i never truly thought we'd see eye to eye.
the smile broadens,
and the night grows thin,
i release the butterfly to her sweet somber dreams,
and close my solid door and await again,
for the one I've missed.


In bliss we dream even on lonely nights it seems,
i am the wind to carry your tired butterfly wings.
and my heart sings,
for you tonight. tonight...
goodnight.

Dreams Of Destruction

I play a solitary symphony,
frowning in misery and playing long sad notes.
Darkened halls,no stage lights shown,
a lonely figure all alone.
Empty hall echoes and shadows dance with the sound,
notes swirl in a whirlwind around.

The strings, nonexistant betray my array,
of carefully calculated music.
The silence it stays,
just beyond earshot away,
when the dull roar turns to a single clap.
The sound of the bow hitting the ground,
and the click of the case as my violin is put away.

Perhaps someday the light will shine,
until then this empty stage is mine,
and just like the wind i am gone,
with my empty notes following on the breeze.

But i often feel that way. Especially when i play as i often dont have an audience besides passerbyes on quiet streets.

yeah i hear you. im generally just either over-excited or way down low. you know? so i choose to stay somewhere betwee melancholy and twisted with my poetry XD

I get that a lot, so I quit letting people read my poetry
you are the only one that gets to now, aside from people on here and whomever decides to venturing into my journal on VF of course

"Fight Or Flight"

Do we stand, or should we hide?
This cavern is so dark and desolate,I'd lose my mind.
If it weren't for you so close behind,
This candle isn't bright enough for the time.
No sunlight would fall here,
But it would be divine.
To take everything i hold dear,
and call it mine.
The deeper corners of the cave confine,
everything but this cave is in my mind.
And where do you look?
If you wish to find.
Everything I've left behind.

With this memory i'd bind,
everything i've lost inside
Because anything is better then being this blind.
And how far would it take me before i'm confined
Within my very soul.

I wrap these bandages tight,
and i think fight or flight?
Will i fight for my right to live,
or run like a coward to an early grave?

Maybe this time I'd manage to save,
Save myself.

I can definately relate to fight or flight - seem to be faced with that dilema on a daily basis atm, but i think the others are also really really beautiful.

because I guess I needed a moment of clarity and reading that gave it to me

'A pirate's lover.'

Never ending the ocean at the far reaches of where my eyes can see.
The waves welling up and crashing over me.
The cold hard sting as the breeze whips the salty mist against my face.
The gentle rocking of the boat beneath unsteady legs though braced.
My maiden, silken and laced.
Dances across the hull and it brings a smile as she runs to my embrace.
The crew below working at a fast pace.
The sails high above and a lookout shouts for oncoming disaster.
Heart beats faster.
We spin the wheel and brace for what is sure to be a crash.
we miss but the ship begins to thrash.
Unwarranted the turn as the ocean splits in two.
Rises up and it would swallow all of us and you.
You still turn to face me with a smile.
And I know that we will make it through at least a little while.
We banish the new waves collecting a drop in a vial.
I place it around your neck and on your shoulders you see.
Is a little piece of the sea,
So you'll always remember what it's like to be free.
And across the vast ocean while i sail you will always remember me.
