I participate in NaNoWriMo, and will be doing Script Frenzy this year. I've found that it can be a great way to make yourself really focus and sit down and do something you set your mind to. And it's all about writing and meeting goals, rather than writing something amazing - it's writing for the love of writing. And meeting that goal can be quite the mood booster!
So, any other RYLers out there joining in or already signed up?

Nope, didn't post it on V.2, although I probably should. I was hoping to get a few more posts going here as well - the more the merrier, right?
Back on topic, if you're concerned about not being able to write but want to write, this is actually a really good event. With both SF and NaNoWriMo, the emphasis is on writing for the love of it; no editing, no self-criticism, no focusing on the negatives, just writing. For me, it has actually been a big help in recovery, because it forces me to focus on something positive. And it's a great feeling to set a goal and then reach it when all is said and done.

When you break it down, it's 667 words a day for Script Frenzy and 1667 a day for NaNoWriMo. That's not too much, is it?
control freak, good for you!! Seriously, it's so much fun, especially if you can get on the forums and get hooked up with other people in your area. Hanging out in a coffee shop with pens, paper and laptops and writing is hilarious. ^_^
