Well... I thought it was mostly mediocre bordering crap, nbut it definitely got better towards the end. I got the concept of it, water being something so necessary for life bringing a horrible death, The Doctor walking away from dying humans, I got it but I didn't think it was executed very well. though I did like the Doctor walking away from them and initially was disappointed when he went back.
Adelaide shooting herself was good, well not good but I liked that it pulled the doctor out of his momentary delusion of Grandeur. Without rules even the Doctor is corrupt.
sadly, I thought the best part of the episode was the preview of the Christmas Special "The End of Time" How AMAZING does it look?! :D Donna, The Master, all back again. I knew they'd have to bring Donna back into a future episode.

yeah it was a bit all over the place. the water concept wore out pretty quickly and i feel they missed out a lot by not explaining anything. i mean i dont want it to be obvious, i like stuff like midnight where you dont actually see the monster or anything, but whatever the water things were and why that moment was fixed were never really given any depth, or even anything to draw your own conclusions from.
the christmas special looks amazing. i just hope they dont shove any daleks or cybermen in.

why can't i feel anything for anyone other than you?
I have to admit that it started off pretty lame, but compared to Planet of the Dead I thought it ended up being quite stunning. Seeing the Doctor as a broken, desperate man was chilling and heart-wrenching. And I felt it was also a relief to see the Doctor as corruptable and human (well, you know what I mean) as the rest of us instead of the saint he's so often portrayed as.
And did anyone else think John Simm looks strangely good as a blonde?
I didn't find any of it 'chilling' or 'heart-wrenching' it felt like it was trying but not hard enough, it just sort of... gave up on itself.
they probably will put daleks and cybermen in there, it's Russell T Davies, he seems unable to leave them alone. It bothers me, it really does and I don't ever want to see them again if I'm honest.
The 'monster' was crap. The only good part was the concept of the fixed moment in time, which the doctor ruined. He went mad. In my opinion the specials of late have been disappointing.
Tennant did put in an amazing performance though considering the script. It's like Davies isn't even trying anymore.

Just remembering last years Christmas special makes me cringe. Ugh, planet of the dead was an epic, epic fail as well.
I get really annoyed, thinking of how good Torchwood was this year and looking at the Doctor Who specials, it's just disappointing :/

the moment was fixed because it was her death that inspired her grand-daughter to follow in her footsteps and invent the first light-speed ship which help humanity move to the stars...
something like that...
and as we know from the first series of dr who, earth eventually is eaten by the sun and therefore without her grand-daughter providing a better way of space-travel to other inhabitable planets then the human race would die out.

Well they might have but The Doctor explained what happened because of Adelaides death, it was enough for the daleks to let her live, it should have been enough to let the Doctor ignore the screaming. Though understandably, he couldn't. And his thoughts corrupted him, he's clearly still heavily haunted by Pompeii and, well, everything. Though ultimately the point of him going a bit mental was to prove that although he is the last timelord, he is not a god, he is not in charge of the universe, like all of us, he must obey the rules.
It also brings about a lot of questions about fate and destiny and whatnot.
if thats the case then im still not a fan, the specials im assuming get a larger audience and should be completely enclosed, as in you dont need an in depth knowledge of existing stories for the plot to make sense. small throwbacks to the series history are fine just for the major plot points to be completely reliant on previous episodes is a bit much.
ive not been keen on any of the specials tbh.

These specials are somewhat different though, the only reason there isn't a series is because Tennant and other crew members just oculdn't spare the time, so they settled for 5 specials spread out across the year. Specials before these specific ones have been enclosed and haven't relied on previous info about the story but these ones have to. They are spelling out the end of one of the greatest Doctors the show has ever had, it's more like a short series that's spread out across the year rather than on weekly.
There are 2 left before Tennants reign ends and they are going to rely on so much from his years as The Doctor and they should.
Oh god I can't believe there's only two left with David Tennant. In my opinion Matt Smith could be the greatest actor this world has ever seen and he still couldn't really live up to the role, not after Tennant. Big big shoes to fill.

Last year's Christmas special was the one with the 'other' Doctor, yes? I thought it was quite good. Much better than that one with Kylie Minogue in (Voyage of the Damned?) which was crapper than crap.
Anyway, this one, well as with most Davies episodes it was lacking in depth and explanation of the things introduced. Parts of it were a bit sad, but Brook killing herself at the end was a bit pointless.
I've heard all sorts of things about the finale of Tennent's Doctor. Davies better not ruin it by bringing in pretty much everyone ever to appear on the show.
