ponderings

I was just having a quiet ponder, as you do.

I was pondering over how I live in the London borough that I do.
I was remembering how in my last year of uni we had talks and everything on boroughs and councils to teach in and whatnot. I ended up in Kent. But now I live in NW London. Although I'm no longer teaching.
I remember thinking how the borough that I now live in when we were told about it seemed way out of my life-field and not in my 'orbit' as it were.
But now I live and work here, and have done for 6 and a half years!
Funny how life turns out isn't it?

Anyone else have similar stories?

I ended up in Edinburgh, and I was born in Ireland and have no particular connexion with Scotland. I ended up here because I tried unviersity in Dundee and then moved in with my partner in Edinburgh. I like it here, but my connexion with her feels very tennuous.

Hmm... it is interesting the paths we take.

I was born deep in a valley hamlet in Yorkshire, but grew up in Newcastle. Small city life was natural and "alive" for me. Age 12, I moved back to Yorkshire which felt like the polar opposite. Strange, quaint little villages, clean air, but too... dead for me. When I was 20 and went to spend a year in Birmingham and nobody thought I'd cope, because spending my teens in such a quiet place, I wasn't exactly street-wise. But I took to it like a duck to water and loved it there. Now I'm back up in Yorkshire and... meh, I was always an urban fairy rather than a country bumpkin!

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
