Bubble Glass Development

Some of you may have seen my previos threads with my bubble glass in the past 9 months or so and i thought it was time that i showed you the direction i have taken with these for my final year of my degree.

The pieces are made using float glass ( window glass) with a powder that reacts with the heat during the firing process between the two layers of sheet glass.

My final piece that i am working on for this semester is a light that uses my bubbles glass but with the bubbles more controlled in a design for a sensory room for disabled children.

This last image is the latest piece i have made. I have been engraving the bottom sheet, applying the powder then a top sheet of glass is placed on top, but for this piece i placed an engraved sheet with powder, then another engraved sheet with powder then the top sheet.The results show that the bubbles stay within their levels and add more depth to the piece. I hope i explained this well enough.

WOW thats amazing! You're amazingly talented and i love your idea for it to be used in a sensory room i think thats fantastic and the kids would love it and the texture/ effect they provide! Really love it and would love to see more :D

I am currently:
Jane you are so very talented and I love how you have managed to tie your interests and work outside uni with disabled kids and incorporate it into your projects at uni.

They really are beautiful. I went to an exhibition today which had a lot of jewllers, sculptors and also a lot of glass makers and your work could easily have held it's own against that lot.

I know you don't always enjoy uni and have some doubts over wether it was the right course, but you are achieving such a lot. I hope you do manage to enjoy the completion of your course, you're a very talented lady and deserve to do well!
