Tonight, I sleep without Ativan
I know you're just down the hall
And I felt you cared, genuinely
You said the forbidden word -
'forever'
Albeit, not in the sense I crave
But still, it slipped from your lips
Like sparkling liquid
The crashing of waves inside me
Your symphony is pure cacophony
Reciprocity is reproachable
Electricity flows beneath your flesh
Pinpoints of energy
Tonight, my thoughts are heavy
Lie awake, sure I'm safe
I know you're just down the hall
You listened -
You made me feel important
A feat no other has achieved
There is concern in your eyes
It still takes me by surprise
Each and every time you attempt
To scratch deeper than the surface
I wonder what you see in me
if anything
I see the cosmos in you
Water and fire never mix
Let's be contrary
There are different shades of blue
Just as green and red
Brightly lit-up before the membranes of my eyes
Insomnia at its finest
Underneath my tongue
Tonight, I take my Ativan

However, I personally like the style - free verse in that form is something that appeals to me.
